This work shows how the insidious danger of relativism was experienced by the young Joseph Ratzinger in Nazi Germany where truth gave way to pragmatism and human rights were trampled, how his world view was solidified when studying Augustine and Bonaventure, and how the Second Vatican Council was sensitive to this issue.
