His Holiness emphasizes that “Prayer is a job: a job that demands will, constancy, and determination.” The great Russian Orthodox Saint, Theophanes, avers, “The Lord requires little from us, but that little must flow from the heart.” And so it is that we are enabled to see how the divine presence can be felt by each one of us through a special experience of grace that envelops us in the love of the Lord. Contextually, the Our Father uses not the pronoun I but We, because each of us presents this prayer to the Father in the name of all humanity.
